In my opinion, Meopta’s Optika5 range realistically offers a nice balance of size and power. The 2-10x has a 42mm objective, the 3-15x is 44mm and the 4-20x is complemented by a 50mm objective which is as large as you need on a hunting scope. The Optika5 in 2-10×42 is just the right blend of size and power for a hunting rifle.
Diamondback HD 10x42 (new this month) - still a solid performer in the $230 price bracket. I may end up with a set of these in 8x32 to keep in the truck, I really liked that size. Vortex Viper - not that much better than the new Diamondback HD, between those two I wouldn’t spend double on the Viper. COO China
2,160. Mavens are excellent, both b and c series that I've used. I know Meopta makes a good bino as well so that's not a bad choice at all. I'd buy the Maven C1s in 10x42 and call it done. Look around some more and you'll find rave reviews nearly everywhere.
