🐯 Ktm 450 Exc Oil Change Interval

I just bought a 19 250 sxf and we discussed this at 40 hours he checked his valves and compression, then checked it often after that. When those are out of speck, the top end is due. He averaged 60 hours per top end, sometimes more sometimes less. Oil change for the KTM 250 EXC-F 2007 There are 3 oil filters, 2 mesh ones & 1 paper paper one. The paper one, (HiFlo HF655), is on the left side above the footpeg, there is a mesh one below the gear lever, hidden behind a bolt. The other mesh one is underneath, behind the sump guard & uses an 8mm allen key. In my opinion, changing the oil every 300kms ( 4 full days of non-competition riding ) is fine. Then every third oil change change the 2 filters and clean the 2 screens. I then do my valves every 4 months or so. Read the manual and buy exactly what it specifies (period). I have a KTM 450 Exc and read up on this same issue. For mine it is the Motorex 20w50 since i live in so cal. A 7-hr oil change interval (which may not be correct or is unnecessarily anal), no matter how easy, is a turn off to me. - Fuel economy: I am concerned with range. 450 owner says 35-40 mpg. Seems kinda meh to me, but he is doing off-road events. - Power with some snap to it. Oil Change interval? The manual says Motorex 10w50. Royal Purple 10w40 came highly recommended. Oil Filter Interval? Any better aftermarket filters for a lower price? Long and Short Screen cleaning interval? I had originally planned to clean every oil change. Valve Adjustments? How often should I be checking? There are quite few other factors at play here as well when it comes to maintenance intervals. Cam design and how it interacts with the valve train will greatly alter valve service intervals as will material usage and density. The list goes on and on as to why the WR250r has a lower maintenance schedule. The 450 rebuild interval according to the manual is something crazy like 60 hours if I remember right. After talking to many individuals and a few shops I've gotten pretty close to the same response of 150 hours. Of course you could stretch it out further I'm sure and many do without an issue.
