One pass I do feel like is a "must" there, though, is the subway pass. I think it's like $35 for five days (haven't been in a couple years so maybe different now), but it is SO worth it. You don't have to worry if you accidentally get on the wrong train, you don't have to walk because you don't have the fare, etc.

Agree! You may want to do a few paid admission "attractions", but there are so many wonderful things to do and see in NYC to really soak up the vibe. Grand Central, The New York Public Library, gawk at Times Square at night, walk the Highline, explore Central Park, wander around Chinatown and grab some cheap eats, explore interesting neighborhoods on foot (e.g. Greenwich Village, etc.).
